Due to popular demand we are now offering
a set of "Budget Headers". They are made to fit the 91 - 96
B&D body cars, both sedan and wagon. Clearance is not
comparable to our Top end TRI-Y headers but they can be
installed successfully with some minor adjustments of the
brake lines, AC lines and proper spark plug wire routing.
They are available with round ports only,
instead of the D-port our other headers use. The flanges are
5/16th as compared to 3/8". Tubing is the same
14 gauge mild steel (.083 wall) as our top of the line
headers. The clamp marks are not polished out as our other headers. Spark plug
clearance is adequate but access is not comparable to our
other headers.
These "Budget" headers are a mid-length 4
into 1 design header. The primary tubes are 1 5/8" and the
collector is 3". They can be ordered raw, or with
ceramic coating, as well as by themselves or with many
available options. We do not offer
discounts, GP's, etc. as these are priced to compete with
other low-cost (and low quality) headers on the market. The
difference is, our low cost headers were built to fit these
cars, are fabricated by the same craftsman who build our top
of the line "TRI-Y" and "QUAD-1" headers, and can be ordered
with true "BOLT-IN" options. No cutting, fitting or welding
is required to installs these headers when accompanied by
the extended hook-up pipes or hi-flow converters. The
passenger side header installs from above and the drivers
side is best installed from below, except for a few vehicles
which allowed install from above.
Bolt
access is very good on the drivers side. The passenger has a
couple bolts which are more difficult, but all 12 bolts can
be tightened with a 12 point box wrench. These headers
do not interfere with, or prevent access to the valve
covers. These
headers were designed on a 1995 Impala with brand new engine
mounts and test fit on a Buick
Road Master as well as a Cadillac Fleetwood to insure proper
clearance between the frame and collectors. Two production
sets were built and installed on two other local Impala's
without any problems. However, due to the apparent
lack of consistency from car to car, we have no way to
guarantee their fit on every vehicle. There may be variances
from one vehicle to the next which may require some work to
make them clear the frame on the passenger side. Customer
feedback has confirmed that changing the motor mounts took
care of the clearance issue.
These headers are sold with a 12 month
warranty against problems resulting from workmanship and
material. If ordered with the CHROMEX ceramic coating, a
separate 3 year warranty is provided by Performance Coatings
for the ceramic coating.
