Dan,
Well I just wanted you to know that I have 1000 miles now on a set of your budget headers and hi-flow cats. Lets me say that these are an awesome set of headers. The install went like a dream. Everything cleared and it all bolted right up to my cat-back. The performance is very very noticeable.

Thank you for all your effort to supply us B-body guys with an exceptional after market header and cat.

Dan,

We did it together - our anniversary gift LOL! Bill saws-alled the old exhaust off - but we fit , placed & secured everything together & I did the plug wires myself . Really the headers were not the knuckle busting experience that I have had in the past with other cars & headers. Took the alternator off the bracket - moved the brake lines a bit & the dipstick - then voila - presto - headers in. We went from the bottom on the driver's side & the top on the passenger side. Two sets of hands does make a difference!

You can post it if you like - and you can even say - easy enough for a girl to do LOL!

Bring a tear of joy to my eyes...

No tail pipes on yet,  so all the sound is under the car - but the first time we fired it up I really did cry! My heart pounds and my leg shake when I'm driving,  I have to try not to get in trouble - my bat outta hell is back.

Thank you !

OXOXOXOXOXOXO ; )

Lorrin

Happy Happy Joy Joy!

The headers were really easy to install - I was so surprised - the plug wires kicked my ass though!

Hey Dan,

After some weather issues and scheduling problems, finally got the car into the shop.
Laid the headers in front of the car, opened the hood, pointed toward the engine
compartment and the headers leapt into place!  Well, almost.

Perfect fit.  No leaks.

Really woke up the 845 cam and the sound of this setup is awesome.

Thanks for providing such high quality pieces,

Larry Hall

Hey Dan, I thought I'd share the results from Rick 's 1996 Impala SS tuning session....

Car was an LPE 383 package when he got it, so stock manifolds/cats, crappy
intake, not a very good computer tune, etc.

So, I tuned it and talked him into the Tri-Y headers. It was his idea to add in
your Cold Air Intake.  :-)

The graph is here:
http://www.carolinaautomasters.com/dynographs/RickHodgson.JPG

So, I'd say that a gain of 24 rwhp/30 rwtq from the Tri-Y's isn't bad....
Especially when you add in an additional gain of 12 rwhp/30 rwtq from the
intake. Total gains of 36/60!!  Damned incredible!!

Now some of it was my expert tuning, heh heh, but very nice parts, very,
very nice.

thanks man!!

Bradford Becks' 1996 Lingenfelter equipped Impala SS 35.7 horsepower and 35.4 FT/Lbs of torque gain to the rear wheels with the addition of the TRI-Y headers and 2 1/2" Random Technologies Converters!

Aaron Stiles of Bad Toyz Motorsports in Acworth, GA installed a set of 1 3/4" Quads, no air and no EGR, and cat delete pipes on a 96 Impala. The engine combo in this car is a 396ci stroker with factory LT4 heads and intake, custom grind comp cam and 58mm BBK throttle body. The stroker kit is from MTI in Texas. Here are his comments and dyno results:

"No installation issues whatsoever, they practically fell into place, it was a little tight on the pass side but only because the wiring harness that is strapped to the dipstick bracket had come out of its trough and snagged the rear tube. So just as with the last 3 sets of tri y's I installed, these were a dream and well worth the money over the half priced shorties out there.
Oh, and by the way, here are the dyno results; before, with edelbrock shorties and stock cats, 325hp and 340 lbs/ft; AFTER with the only change being your headers, and cat delete pipes, 356hp and 403lbs/ft. That is a 26 hp and 63 lbs/ft. increase!!! Unbelievable how bad the shorties were choking that engine!

The tests were done at Dynolab on a Dynojet in ground dyno."

Customer Comments

Just wanted to let you know that I purchased Tri-Ys from you about 2 years ago and they are still going strong.

My 1996 Impala SS has some minor mods including 1.6RR, 3.42:1, custom exhaust with x-pipe, RAISS, Hypertech, and of course, Tri-Y headers. The car is going 14.1 seconds consistently on street tires. 13.9 on slicks.

The Tri-Ys are a great product.
Thanks,
Scott from NJ

Gotta customer 4 life here in Maine.

I will say this..... unlike a lotta businesses I have dealt with that are *simply* in business to make money, you also have a personal passion for these beasts that is not all that common......don't ever lose that - hell it's almost like you personally build each and every part you sell with your own two hands!

Mark

Wow is all I can say about the fit, function, and shine of the Tri-y’s. This is one of the best products that I have seen from a vendor such as yourself, so far. Perfection is the only word to describe these headers. Thank you for such an awesome product. Just had to say with a little Bryan Herter tuning and a x-pipe this thing runs like a champ. I will really have to say that the x-pipe along with your headers and this thing rev so freakin’ quick, I was really surprised.

Sean P. Dorey

Well...needless to say Dan, all of the vendors don't carry on their biz in such fashion... Heck, I wonder how some of them still have ANYBODY that order from them, you are among the best in the biz man... Thanks again.

hey Dan,

Here's a testimonial for ya

On my stock bottom 350, the 1 5/8" Tri-Ys gave me an instant 2 tenths and 1.5 mph over the 1 3/4" SLP headers with no other changes, and the same track temperatures. When I added a new cam, they hung right in there with a 107mph NA (an additional 5.5 mph with the cam).

On the juice, they gave me almost 118mph (117.92), so they definitely have the capacity to scavenge those exhaust gases even at fairly high HP levels.

The Fresh Blast coating has yet to have any discoloration in over a year and a half, even with the HOT N2O exhaust. The fit and finish on the headers is second to none, and I can access every bolt from the top. All in all, I'm extremely pleased with them. They also look great!!!

Here ya go:

I paid a little more for the TRI-Y's than I could have for other headers, but here's what I got for my money: Excellent customer service (Dan answered my many emails quickly). An excellent product (These things are a work of art). No headaches (They fit! "Plug and Play") And finally, The peace of mind knowing I bought the best the first time and won't need to upgrade later. Scott Donnelly

Dan,
Fed Ex delivered my Tri-Ys last night. Those things are gorgeous in Cerma-Chrome! Cant wait to get them on. Iam an aircraft and turbine engine inspector by trade and inspected everything with a fine tooth comb to include the welds, bends and finish. Everything was perfect! I have no doubt that I bought the best Impala headers there are.

I've had them for 1.5 years, and been very happy with them. Great fit-n-finish, nice power gains thru the entire power band (with no other mods, about 15 HP and 15 ft-lbs on my SS with stock motor), and look great! I would definitely buy these headers again!

Dan,

I have over 43,000 miles on the Tri-Y headers now and the (fresh blast) finish is still perfect. The installation was an absolute dream and the fit was perfect.

My neighbor ordered some Hooker headers at the same time I bought my Tri-Y's and we were able to compare them side-by-side. The differences in materials and workmanship were simply outstanding.

I purchased the Tri-Y's after reviewing everyone's comments. I was unable to find one negative comment and have grown to trust the experts here. You offered great customer service, and the quality of the product is first class. I know that I have purchased the best set of headers for my Impala SS. Spring is just around the corner, and will update you with stats as the weather breaks.

If you are looking for quality, and great customer service, look no further. You will never second guess your purchase after they arrive.

I am the very first owner of Tri-Y headers in Japan and very proud of it. The quality is amazing!! His customer service was super. For example, he always answered my questions real soon like in a day or so. He even offered me a free shipping by asking his Impala friend going to Japan in March to bring the headers for me. Cool, isn't it?
I really love the Impala world.
Can't wait to change my UN-coated SLP with CERMACHROMED BEAUTIFUL TRI-Y.

Jyust got my Tri-y's installed. Taking off the old stuff was a complete pain in the A$$. Tri-y's went on with out any problems what so ever. Again as mentioned many times before the quality is superior. They look great, especially with the air pump delete, really cleaned up the engine. And the sound is awsome through the Flowmaster Catbacks. These are awesome! Thanks Dan!!!!

Dan,
I've had the Tri-Y's since December 2000 and love them. Plug and bolt access is great, heat is not an issue and craftsmanship is second to none. I dropped 3 tenths from my ET with just the headers. These are THE headers to get.

I never seen the Tri-Ys. Are they full length or shorty style? How about problems with the A/C lines getting too hot?

They are sort of "in between", but closer to being a long header.

I have had zero problems with my A/C (or any other) lines with these headers. Did nothing special at all to my A/C lines either. Believe it or not, I still have my original "Arlington" R134a in there!

What type of hookup do they use? Do they bolt up to the stock exhaust pipes or is there a collector with reducer? Will I need aftermarket cats? Move the O2s? Do they hang low?

Thanks for the help.

There are NO fitment issues. The O2 sensors have plenty of air space around them, the EGR hookup is in the stock location and the cats hookup in a more even location... here is a pic from under the car...

Hey Dan.... Looks like everyone speaks highly of the Tri-Y's..... and you can add me to that list. I saw nice gains... even over the SLP's I had before. I think I have one of the first sets, I got them from you at I2K Impalapolouis in 2000.

My only complaint is that I'm starting to get rust spots through the cerami-chrome. The only place it's really bad is around the connection to the rest of the exhaust. Do you have recommendations on clean-up or re-coating.... or does the company that coated them have any kind of warrenty?

Dan,

The Tri-Y's are the best set of headers I have installed to date. I uninstalled a set of AS&M's for these and I have to say the install is as different as night and day. The Tri-Y's were a dream to install with no fussin' or cussin' involved. I would definately buy a set for any b-body I would own.

And tri-ys with cutouts closed on stock exhaust with mickyts I did 14.5x. Then a couple passes later with the cutouts open I did a 14.095. Just wanted to say thanks for such great products.I will let you know the dyno results when I do them.

Guys-

After two years plus in driving my 9C1 with a broken bolt and a severely cracked manifold (and my wife complaining) I went into debt and purchased Dan's Quad1's. Living here in Seattle, I could have gone to Stans and have done so before for other cars. However, I felt more comfortable with Clear Image because I knew Dan had experience with the very intracacies of our cars. Not to mention, I knew if anything came up, he would take care of me.

After removing and installing headers on a 66 Chevelle, a 71 Cheyenne 502 pickup and a 71 Challenger 440, I can say the quad 1's went in very, very easy. I had been dreading doing the job, but was shocked how easy everything went together.

And if you are wondering, I didn't get paid for saying this, and I am not on Dan's payroll....by far this was one of the best pruchases I have made for my car, only empasized by the ease of installation.

It's fairly obvious that Stan is attempting to gain ground by leveraging what Dan has done. No doubt it happens all the time. For me I prefer someone who has a little more knowledge and experience with my specific car, than someone just trying to make a buck.

Dan, I never got a chance to thank you for offering the stealth bolt. Feel
free to put this in your testimonials but the other day I was coming home
from work after I did the stealth bolt earlier that morning and I was
crusing at about 45-50 m.p.h. Well a deer decides to jump out about 80 feet
in front of me. Well I slammed on the brakes and the car stopped about 10
feet short of the deer. If I had waited a day to install your wonderfull
product or just not have purchased it I would most likely be in the hospital
because that deer would have came right through the windshield and I would
be without my precious B-body. So I guess what im trying to say is simply,
Thanks Dan for offering a great product and I will continue to remain loyal
to CIA for my parts.

-Brett-
